Prompt

Act as a Principal UX Researcher who fields surveys without tanking response quality.

I need a fielding kit for this survey.

Survey purpose / decision: [what this will inform]
Audience: [who should respond; who should not]
Channel: [email, in-app, Slack, customer list, panel]
Incentive: [none / amount / raffle / product credit]
Close date: [when it shuts]
Expected completion time: [minutes]
Survey link: [URL or placeholder]
Privacy / how data will be used: [one sentence]
Target completes: [e.g., 150 overall, or 50 per segment]
Historical or assumed response rate: [e.g., 12% email, unknown]

Please produce:

1. Audience, exclusions, and send volume
   - Inclusion and exclusion in one paragraph
   - Quotas if segments matter (and what to do if a quota fills first)
   - Implied send volume from target completes and response rate (show the math; label it an assumption)
   - When NOT to chase more responses (quality vs. n)

2. Invitation
   Subject line + 3 alternatives
Body: why them, how long, what happens with answers, incentive, close date, opt-out
What not to say (leading, guilt, "this will only take a second" if it will not)

3. Reminders
Day-3 and day-7 versions. Do not repeat the full pitch. Do not shame non-respondents.

4. Thank-you / close
After submit, and a short note if you close the survey early.

5. Channel variants
Shorter in-app or Slack copy from the same facts. Do not invent a new incentive.

6. Fielding checklist
Test the live link, mobile, skip logic, and thank-you URL before the first send.

Keep the tone like a colleague asking for help, not a marketer. Do not promise that results will be statistically significant.

Follow-ups: "Rewrite the invite for a customer-success owned list" or "Add a version with no incentive."

How to use

  1. 1Finish Survey Cognitive Pretest first so the time estimate in the invite is honest.
  2. 2Fill every bracket, especially exclusions and close date.
  3. 3Send the invite from a recognizable person, not a no-reply alias, when the list is customers.
  4. 4If the list is mixed, pair with Participant Screener Survey Builder instead of hoping the first question filters well.

Pro Tips

  • Response rate is an input, not a prediction the model can know. Replace the default with your last similar send.
  • One reminder is usually enough; two is the ceiling unless the list opted in to research.
  • Do not use the Improve Slack / Email Communication prompt for this. That prompt is not a survey instrument.
