Ask Maps is a chat side panel inside Google Maps. Answers stamp rated pins, open place cards, ground vibe copy in reviews, and can graduate into a Mentioned places list. The classic Place sheet still opens beside the side panel.

Design Decisions
Google put the assistant in Maps instead of putting Maps in Gemini. Chat is a closable side panel. Place, lists, and pins stay Maps objects.
