Quarterly Business Review (QBR)

Use this to tell the story of the last quarter and get decisions in a room. Next-quarter detail belongs in the roadmap workflow, not as a second QBR.

Steps

Data and analysis sit together. Learnings sit with the story. The deck is one artifact. The meeting and the follow-up close it.

01Read the quarter

02Write the story

Frequently asked questions

The room wants to rewrite next quarter live. Let them?

Capture the tension, then stop. Sequence the bets in the roadmap workflow after the meeting. A QBR that becomes a planning session has no story and no plan.

How long is the deck?

Twenty to thirty slides. Put the extra charts in an appendix. If they cannot name the decisions they need in the first five minutes, cut.

Follow-ups always die. What then?

Owners and dates in the notes the same day. Anything that is a bet goes into roadmap planning, not a parking lot slide.
